A pink affair ... my babyshower

I have red hair. Not carrot-top red, rather Rita Hayworth red. My DNA is programmed to know that except when I want to make a very fashion forward statement, wearing anything pink with my copper hair is a big no-no! The result is that I’ve never been a big fan of pink. So, naturally, when learning that we are expecting a little girl, I had visions of this little one in my favourite greens, creams and dark colours! (I even created a Pinterest board with some ideas on how to dress our little girl – to see it click here and let me know if you see any pink!)

My friends, however, openly laughed at me and told me I am fighting a losing battle. The shops are bursting with pink baby clothes and besides, the moment little girls can choose their own clothes, the moms tell me, they only want to wear pink anyway.

So, when my friends threw me a baby shower, it was a pink affair! From the invite (I love the picture of me!!), to the table settings and the matching pink champagne, the celebration of this impending little life was suitably festive in all its pink glory.

Everyone attached one of their own baby photos on their gifts and I had to guess who the gift is from. If I made an error, I had to eat a spoonful of Purity. It turned out to be the perfect baby shower fun. In the process, I learned two things: My best friend is willing to forgive me for that fact that I found her totally unrecognisable in her baby pics (she looked like a little boy!), so that friendship will probably stand the test of time. And, secondly, my little girl will never have to eat “Custard with Vanilla flavour” Purity

Thanks to all my friends for making the occasion so special.
