15 / 2015 The Terrible Twos

Oh my goodness, parenting can be a tough act. We, the slightly smug parents of an angelic little princess, naively forgot about that infamous toddler behaviour, the “terrible two’s”. It is now upon us!  It started on Wednesday afternoon and by Thursday morning she was proficient in it. It seems she needed only one afternoon of practising before being an expert. Overachiever!

The point of all this is not to whine (ok, maybe just a little :-) ), but to document the day and time. Some say the terrible two’s are not when they are two but is a phase that lasts for two years. Well, we know when it started and we are counting off the days! No overtime will be allowed!

On a more serious note though, I am reminded every time she grabs my hand and pulls me to wherever she wants to go, that this is such an important phase in her life, and in mine. This is my chance to guide her, to teach her right from wrong, to nurture and love her during this time when her own emotions overwhelm her and she becomes frustrated. It is also a time for me to hold on to her hand and treasure all those little moments with her. Be grateful for the little things. Because, they aren’t really all that little.
